Built in 1922 by the One Hundred Members' Debating Benevolent Association, the 100 Men Hall has been a cornerstone of African American social and musical life in Bay St. Louis for over a century. Legendary artists including Ray Charles, James Brown, Etta James, Fats Domino, Irma Thomas, and Professor Longhair once graced its stage, making it a key stop on the "chitlin circuit" and one of the few surviving landmarks on the Mississippi Blues Trail.

After decades of change — including a near-demolition following Hurricane Katrina — the Hall was restored and its original 1894 charter revived by Rachel Dangermond in 2018 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, it thrives as a cultural center for live music and community, welcoming back the African American community it was built to serve while expanding to celebrate Latin, Jewish, and LGBTQ cultures as well.

The 100 Men Hall stands today as one of Mississippi's rare, living testaments to the birth of American music forged through resilience and community.
