We are OPEN!
Safe Passage has continued to ensure critical safety measures are in place for children experiencing abuse and neglect by remaining open for emergent cases during this COVID-19 pandemic. March 23rd we moved to an on call response, triage system to make sure children and families were not left behind while mitigating risk for staff, volunteers, partners and families.
May 4th we created more availability with two to three staff members in the building daily, rather than just an on call response. We continue to take many safety precautions including, but not limited to, having masks for children and families, staff members wearing masks and having no more than 10 people in the building at one time.
We are committed to being a safe space for children as they begin their healing journey by giving them a voice even in the unparalleled times of COVID-19.
Increase in Child Abuse
When children are not around trusted adults such as teachers their safety and security diminishes. Our team expects to see an influx of cases when the stay at home and safe at home mandates are lifted and children are able to return to school and daycare and are able to report safely.
Decrease in Funding
We are facing many uncertainties in the future in regards to our funding. We had to cancel our largest fundraiser this spring and may have to cancel other events depending on the trajectory of COVID-19. As a result, our budget will be impacted.
We Need YOU!
With the influx of child abuse cases that we are going to see, we need our community to come alongside us. Would you consider giving today to Safe Passage?
Thank you for your commitment to Safe Passage, unwavering support and willingness to stand in the gap for the most vulnerable in our community.
Safe Passage is ready to be the light and hope in the lives of families now and in the coming months of uncertainty. Join us in this effort!
