As many of you know, I've been volunteering for Aspire! for the last few years, doing group Read Alongs and one-on-one video reading sessions with my new friend Rahim during the pandemic.  I'm honored to have recently joined their board of directors.  And... I'm the chair of this year's virtual MASKerade celebration, so the pressure's on for my "team" to hit our goal.

My goal is to raise $2,000 through this page to help Aspire!'s kids.

Click on the yellow Donate button at the top of this page.

By donating here, you'll also get:

  • A ticket to our virtual MASKerade celebration on Thursday, October 22 from 7-8pm (mark your calendar now and be on the lookout for your ticket package in early October)
  • Entry into our live raffle for a bunch of cool prizes (even if you can't make the event)
  • Donate $100 or more before Sep 12 and you'll pay a meal forward to an Aspire! family, compliments of Ted's Bulletin.

Join me in helping Aspire's 100 kids who are at risk of falling behind even further with distance learning.  More than 70% of their parents have lost their jobs due to Covid, and many don't have reliable internet access at home.  Aspire! is moving mountains to open their locations to provide in-person programming this fall, to ensure their kids can keep up with their online classes and homework.  We need your support more than ever.

Thank you for making our first virtual fundraiser such a success! WATCH THE REPLAY BELOW! There is still time to give through October 29th as every donation supports our school day program, providing in-person distance learning support, tutoring, and enrichment. It costs Aspire! $5,400 each day to implement this program for 100 students with social distancing and other health protocols in place. There is currently no public funding support for this kind of effort in Arlington; we are relying 100% on private funding to implement this critical program.

Thank you to everyone who came together to celebrate the most important year of Aspire! yet, and the many accomplishments of our students and programs. Your support has made such a difference and you helped us reach our match goal. If you missed the event there is still time to give and you can watch the full event replay.

This year, Aspire!'s students face additional challenges as a result of distance learning, including inconsistent internet access, keeping up with homework and feelings of isolation.  While all students risk falling behind with schools moving to virtual learning, a recent study estimates students of color could face 7 to 10 months of additional learning loss

This places students of color at a significant disadvantage and only widens the achievement gap. Aspire! is innovating to provide in-person and online programming this fall, to ensure our kids don't fall further behind.  We need your support more than ever!

Help us unMASK student potential by joining us at this year's MASKerade celebration! Click the yellow Donate button at the top of the page!

About Aspire!

Helping students unMASK their potential – that’s the mission of Aspire!. As Arlington’s only accessible academic afterschool program for at-risk families, Aspire! provides critical support to students who otherwise may not receive it. With schools currently closed, the need has never been greater for the more than 1,000+ at-risk students that we serve through our online and in-person programs.

Full-time distance learning poses disproportionate challenges for our families as 70% have experienced recent job loss and inconsistent internet and computer access.

Aspire!  provides both in-person and online programs that include:

  • reading and math support;
  • homework and online learning assistance; and
  • social-emotional activities and support.

Aspire! is working to find solutions that support our families while parents return to work.
