Valerie Colimon's Story

As an immigrant of this country at the tender age of 5 years old from Haiti; the values, mission and vision of Aspire! are those that resonate at a personal level for me. I can remember the feeling of insecurity as a young child due to not knowing the language of a new country and navigating a new environment altogether. Yet, programs similar to Aspire! got me through those tender years and for that main reason the need to give back to similar vulnerable populations and programs is imperative to me.

Since obtaining a great base during those critical years, I navigated a public school system and state university system that afforded me both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Accountancy and a Certified Public Accountancy license. Organizations like Aspire! truly provide lasting value and I am proud to celebrate Aspire! at their first virtual fundraiser!

Thank you for making our first virtual fundraiser such a success! WATCH THE REPLAY BELOW! There is still time to give through October 29th as every donation supports our school day program, providing in-person distance learning support, tutoring, and enrichment. It costs Aspire! $5,400 each day to implement this program for 100 students with social distancing and other health protocols in place. There is currently no public funding support for this kind of effort in Arlington; we are relying 100% on private funding to implement this critical program.
