I joined the Board for the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage because I believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to pursue her passions and to discover what those passions are on her own. So much of the time as young girls and women, we're told what we should be interested in. We're also told what we shouldn't be interested in, or in many cases don't have access to resources in areas that we would otherwise be interested in.
I think about this often when it comes to the outdoors, and to STEM education. Girl Scouts not only introduces girls to programming in these areas (STEM and outdoors), but it also helps build girls' leadership and entrepreneurship skills. Girls that participate in Girl Scouts are shown to develop significant gains in confidence over girls that do not, and they're given a safe and healthy outlet to build, learn, and grow. Girl Scouts are also, much more likely to graduate college and hold leadership positions throughout her career.
I'm passionate about making sure that any girl in Idaho (as well as Eastern Oregon and Wyoming) be able to reach her full potential. Scouting Stars in a celebration of young women that are doing just that-- and I'd love to have you join me in ensuring that we can continue to celebrate girls reaching for the stars, for years to come.
