Story

Welcome to BAC’s Swim-A-Thon November 8 and 9, 2021

Berkeley Aquatic Club's swimmers will participate in a Swim-A-Thon on November 8 & 9. Proceeds from this event will be applied the Berkeley Aquatic Club Scholarship Foundation. Please donate today and help support our swimmers!

BAC Timed 5000 Yard Swim-A-Thon

  • BAC will host a Timed 5000 Yard Swim-A-Thon on November 8-9
  • Juniors 1, 2 and Flex and Seniors will participate during their regular practice times.
  • There are no signups for swimmers on Juniors 1, 2 & Flex and Seniors.

BAC Age Group Short Course Swim-A-Thon

  • BAC will host the Short Course Age Group (AG) Swim-A-Thon on November 8 - 9 – Age Group Swimmers are: TYM, AG Development and AG Performance
  • Registrations will open shortly and will be emailed to all families.
  • If you are unable to attend, please contact your athlete’s coach ASAP.
  • Athletes may sign up for ONE session only of the Swim-A-Thon.

What is the BAC Age Group Swim-A-Thon?

All age group swimmers (TYM, AG Development and AG Performance) swim as many laps as they can during the time period. Swimmers can ask family and friends to pledge money for every lap they swim or for the whole swim. Please check with your athlete’s primary coach to provide an approximate number of laps for your swimmer.

Whether or not athletes participate in the fundraising side of the Swim-A-Thon, all TYM, AG Development and AG Performance are encouraged to participate in the Swim-A-Thon. The swim has training benefits for everyone on the team.

Are there incentives for Swimmers?

Every swimmer participating in Swim-A-Thon will receive a commemorative BAC Swim-A-Thon Bag Tag with USA Swimming motivational time standards. Furthermore, through our partnership with USA Swimming, swimmers will also receive bag tags from USA Swimming for any swimmers that swims 100 or 200 laps. USA Swimming will also provide logo and apparel prizes for swimmers who earn certain $$ amounts.

How Do We Make Donations for the Swim-A-Thon?

***NEW*** This year we will be accepting donations through a new platform – Give Butter. All proceeds will benefit the Berkeley Aquatic Club Scholarship Foundation. Link to Join: https://givebutter.com/BACSWIM...

Payments can be made via PayPal, ApplePay, Credit Card, Venmo or check. To donate with Venmo, navigate to the campaign on Givebutter using your smartphone or tablet.

Tips: Please note that GiveButter does not charge any processing fees to use their service which is why there is an option to “tip” them when you submit payment. The tip amount can be manually changed to $0 at check out or you may donate to help support their efforts.

Corporate Matching: Don’t forget to see if your employer has a Corporate Matching Gift Program. Many Corporations will match their employee’s contributions to non-profit organizations. This is a great way to increase the money you raise.

Getting Started with GiveButter and Fundraising

We will be using GiveButter to facilitate donations for your swimmer/swimmers for the Swim-A-Thon. Once you have created a login and joined the team, you can send emails or post links to social media to request donations in support of your swimmer or swimmers.

To get started, please click HERE to join the Blue Streak Aquatics Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser benefitting the Berkeley Aquatic Club Scholarship Program. You will be asked to create a login to participate. Blue Streak Aquatic is the parent organization for Berkeley Aquatic Club and is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

IMPORTANT NOTE - The name you create your login under will be the name that appears on the fundraising campaign. It is recommended that you use the parent email and swimmer’s name in one of the following combinations: swimmer name, a family name or that you list all of your swimmer’s names on your login. If you would like to have a separate team page for each swimmer in your family, you will have to create separate email logins. If you create the login and need to have the name updated, you can online or contact customer service, [email protected].

Once you are logged in, there is a brief tutorial on how to navigate the website and create your fundraising page. Click the “edit my page” button to customize your page for your swimmer/swimmers. The “share my page link” will allow you to distribute your fundraising page to family and friends to help support your swimmer’s efforts to fundraise for the Swim-A-Thon.
