BC GET Delivery
BC GET started in a college dorm room with a dream. During his sophomore year at Boston College, co-founder JB Bruggeman and his suite-mates faced a problem: they were hungry, but did not want to walk to the dining hall for dinner. The group started pitching in money for one guy to go and bring back dinner for all of them. When JB finally volunteered, the idea for BC GET was born.
After a semester long beta test, BC GET went live across campus from this most recent February-May, serving food out of Hillside Cafe and the brand new College Road Pizza Cafe. Through an exclusive partnership with Boston College Dining, BC GET is Boston College’s first and only on-campus food delivery service run by students. Deliverers (GETers) are BC students who deliver to any building, lawn, or bench on campus for a delivery fee charged to the customer’s meal plan! It allows students to turn their meal points into utility with the push of a button.
BC GET grew significantly in its first semester of operation. The business had an average growth of 5% week over week and on-boarded a dedicated team of over 40 GETers in the first three months. The business is also poised to continue to expand: new locations will be added next year, a semester's worth of operational knowledge will be leveraged, and, through this, new customers will be brought on.
Inconsistent school work load demands allow students enough time to work a job some weeks but not enough to take on a job. But because BC GET is the first platform at Boston College to leverage flexible hour jobs with an in-demand service, there was a steady increase in supply for GETers over the course of our first semester. More than that, the business is entirely run by students. This gives full time students the ability to make real world business decisions and learn how to execute on real problems in addition to their courses.
Co-founders JB Bruggeman '19 and Jack Antico '21 are passionate innovators and entrepreneurs. Bruggeman and Antico are joined by Michelle Krameisen '20, Megan Quinn '19, Allison Cho '19, and Alex Forte '19.
The current team as well as the past team have been able to leverage their BC GET work into internships at places like: Nomura Securities, Facebook, TripAdvisor, Cantor Fitzgerald, RSM International, Citizens Bank, Care.com, and Ceros.
BC GET exposes students on the team to a tech start-up, providing the unique and valuable experience of building a business. With your help, BC GET's legacy will push students to put their passions to action.
As a young company, we struggle to cover our overhead. Your donation will go directly towards covering our insurance, a requirement in operating a delivery business like we do. We want to grow something truly great for Boston College but are unable to invest in ourselves until we fulfill our fixed costs. Please consider donating, every bit counts.
