Rally for Freedom: Pride For All Black Lives presented by Claim Our Space Now
Saturday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM EDT
A full day event featuring a morning 5k walk/run fundraiser, wellness and arts healing sessions, entertainment, speakers, free HIV testing, voter registration information, Black and LGBTQ+ vendors
Easiest access to Breeze Hill via Prospect Park entrance at Ocean Avenue and Lincoln Road
Our second annual Pride event will celebrate the historically disenfranchised voices of the LGBTQ+ movement, particularly highlighting Black femmes, Trans and non-binary folks.
Our mission is to embolden anti-racist action and bring the community together in a joyful, safe celebration of PRIDE through this day of events. We are so excited to be adding a 5K walk/run fundraiser to this year's event.
Together we will walk through Prospect Park representing PRIDE in all forms to support Claim Our Space Now's antiracism programming and microgrants to Black people in need.
Check-in will begin at 9am and the official walk will take place at 10:30am.
We encourage each 5K participant to set a personal fundraising goal to help us reach our overall goal of $50k for our educational and mutual aid programs. Our suggested goal is $200 per participant. It's as easy as getting 10 people to pledge $20 in support! We have exciting swag from our sponsors for our 5k participants and you'll be automatically entered into our raffle.
Additionally, we will still feature a spectrum of entertainers, performers and speakers, free and confidential HIV testing, nonpartisan voter information and information on changing gender-markers on State IDs.
We're thrilled to also have a marketplace featuring Black and LGBTQ+ vendors!
WHO WE ARE
Claim Our Space Now is a non-profit organization dedicated to emboldening urgent action in the efforts of ending white supremacy and saving all Black lives. With intersectionality and accessibility at the forefront of our mission, our collective provides resources and calls to action that educate, motivate, and unionize our Freedom Fighters to take action and speak truth to power.
Since our launch in June 2020, we have created free accessible educational resources, as well as compiled a National Research Database that includes information on Black mental healthcare, Queer safe spaces, police reform, and a dozen other topics. We also have ignited our Freedom Fighters across the country this fall to register voters in vulnerable Black and brown communities, as well as saved over $100,000 for those communities by registering people for the 2020 census. We have hosted rallies, created a dozen pop-ups across the nation, and have been featured on NY1, CBS, and Playbill highlighting our campaigns and work.
