It's hard to believe it's been 5 1/2 years since we lost Eric. So much has happened.
I find my personal grief journey has been shaped significantly by my work at EricsHouse -- Companioning the Bereaved, Leading Men's Groups, my training by Dr. Wolfelt, and the many projects I've gotten involved in -- from designing and building the labyrinth to capturing and improving our support and administrative processes.
It's all a labor of love, but it's also been formative for me. All grief survivors find themselves challenged to fill the void left by their loss and develop a new self identity as part of their healing process. EricsHouse has given me that. The clients I've walked beside in their journeys have given me purpose and a sense of direction as we've shared their stories. I've reconciled to the idea that my journey has no set end . . . and that's a good thing.
I'm proud of the work we do. I'm honored to work with our outstanding volunteers and staff. And I'm so grateful for the donors that have enabled us to be there for our clients in their grief regardless of their ability to pay for services. Bless you all.
