Emily Cottello's Story

In June of 2020, I made the life changing decision to apply at the YMCA YWCA victims services shelter as a victims advocate. The idea was for this to be just a " summer job" boy, was I wrong. This isn't something you can easily walk away from after just one summer, and honestly, this isn't just "a job, "this is a mission. Because those we serve aren't just victims of something terrible, the people we work with are human beings, they're faces behind each story, and I've very much fallen in love with learning from some of the strongest people, on how to face their fears head on. The people we work with are brave, inspiring and resilient, and I hope one day, I'm half as brave, strong and resilient as them.

My goal is to raise at least $250, to help keep doing the amazing things we do here. Theoretically, if half of my friends on facebook donated a dollar, we could raise this, and then some, and help at least 10 people, if not more, through some of the hardest times in their lives. I hope you're able to donate, and if you do, we appriciate your generosity!
