HRYMCA Spin & Swimathon
Sunday from 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM EDT
Our spin & swimathon will take place on Sunday, March 27th starting at 12:00 PM. Each participant will register for an event and be assigned a 30 minute cycle time in the gym or swimming block in the lap pool at the YMCA to complete their event. More event details listed below!
2021 welcomed a new fundraising and community building event for our YMCA when the first Swimathon was hosted. The event raised critical funds to support the YMCA's "Strengthening Our Structure for a Brighter Future Emergency Repair Project." This project is completing repairs to an exterior wall, stabilizing and repairing a structural beam, replacing and repairing the roof, and rebuilding the exterior wall. Our pools welcome 7,500 visitors annually, from first time swimmers in Water Discovery lessons through active older adults in our arthritis friendly shallow water classes. The pools at the Hampshire Regional YMCA provide community support through educational and wellness programming.
The YMCA Community Impact Fund focuses on providing funding to support individuals and programs enabling equitable access to quality services and programs. Your participation will open the doors for a neighbor in need. Will you join us for the spin and swimathon and make an impact in your community?
All participants must pre-register to participate in either the Spinathon or Swimathon. Both events will have a limited capacity so register today. The event will be hosted on Sunday, March 27th starting at 12:00 PM and finishing at 7:00 PM. Swimmers that register to participate in the event will be assigned a 30 minute swim time by event staff. Cyclist will be assigned to a 30 minute cycle block. Event details and time assignments for both events will be emailed to participants the week of the event.
Last year our participants total distance swam the English Channel. Our challenge this year is to complete a roundtrip swim of the channel! As a community we can swim across the English Channel AND back! Each participant will have their laps counted toward our community total. Our goal is to complete a roundtrip swim of the English Channel- together! Event volunteers will be stationed at the deep end of the pool to count laps toward our collective goal. Volunteers will wear face coverings and be distant from the pool as they count laps for each swimmer.
A prize will be awarded to the male and female swimmer who complete the most laps in their allotted 30 minute swim block.
Can we cycle around Massachusetts? For every 713 miles we will complete 1 lap around the state.
Each participants miles will be counted toward the community total. Our goal is to complete as many laps around Massachusetts throughout the event. Volunteers will collect mileage totals from each participants at the conclusion of each block.
A prize will be awarded to the male and female cyclist who completes the most miles in the allotted 30 minute block.
