This May, I will be hiking to the highest point in Missouri to raise funds for Fisher House Foundation (FHF.) Since I started working at FHF in June of 2021, I have been constantly amazed by the work that this small but mighty organization does. There are currently 92 Fisher Houses around the country and overseas offering a secure, comfortable, and free "home away from home" for members of the military,  veterans, and their families while they or their loved ones receive medical treatment at military or VA hospitals. 

Fisher House Foundation is currently on the "road to 100" as we work to build at least eight more houses in the next few years, including at least three which are already in progress this year. These homes provide an invaluable service to people who have sacrificed for this country and our freedom. Without Fisher Houses, military and veteran families would have to deal with astronomical costs for lodging and transportation just to be near their loved ones. Fisher House ensures that these families do not have to deal with financial burdens so that they can focus on what matters: being there for their family in times of crisis.

Unfortunately, with the rising costs of materials and labor, building a Fisher House is more expensive than ever before. Each house costs, on average, $9 million from start to finish. Every penny counts toward helping us continue our mission and ensuring that our military and veteran families are cared for in their times of need.
