CHANGE A CHILD’S FUTURE WITH THE ‘QUARTER MILE CHALLENGE’
Alanson, Michigan – January 31, 2024
Help collect one mile of quarters! You can help “change” a child’s future by donating your change to the Inland Waterway Rotary Club’s ‘Quarter Mile Challenge’. Look for donation canisters near the registers of local businesses and throw in your change to help the cause. Collecting enough quarters that, when laid side-to-side, stretch one mile will provide over 16,000 dollars to be used to provide shoes, boots, and other clothing to the over 600 homeless or at-risk children in our area. The assistance will be targeted to children in the communities near the Inland Waterway (Conway, Alanson, Oden, Brutus, Pellston, Indian River and the rural areas in between).
Your favorite local business can win a celebration and recognition for their employees by raising the most money over the course of the fundraiser which runs from now through March 31, 2024. People are encouraged to show their support by donating at their favorite retail location. For a list of participating businesses, please see the Rotary Facebook page. Follow the page for updates on which businesses are the top three each week. If you would like a canister for your business please contact the Quarter Mile coordinator at (231) 347-6539.
“We are really excited to be launching our first fundraiser for the newly formed Inland Waterway Rotary Club,” said Randy Evens, founding member of the club, “There are a lot of children in this area that need some support to help them achieve their best future. Our Quarter Mile is a great way to provide them the boost they need. A little change from you can provide a big change for them.”
Of course, all denominations of money are accepted and will be converted to quarters at the end of the event for the big reveal!
