York XL has been awarded a $41,300 Local Share Account (LSA) planning grant to launch Neighborhoods Built by Neighbors (NBN)—a bold initiative to help residents take the lead in shaping development in their own neighborhoods.
This grant funds critical early-stage work including:
Architectural and engineering services
Zoning and variance preparation
Legal consultation and pre-development planning
But to truly make this a community-led effort, we need your support to go further.
We’re raising $5,000 this June to leverage the grant and expand the community impact by funding:
A robust community engagement process to ensure that the building design reflects neighborhood priorities
Listening sessions, visioning events, and neighborhood walk-throughs to surface resident ideas and concerns
Materials, translation, and outreach efforts to include more voices in the process
The reintroduction of York XL as we grow our capacity and deepen our connection to York communities
For more than 6 years, York XL has worked with neighbors to transform public spaces and build trust block by block. Now, we're supporting residents in shaping lasting, meaningful change through development that reflects their dreams, needs, and leadership.
Whether it’s $10 or $100, your gift helps us amplify the value of the $41,300 grant—and ensures this project is deeply rooted in the priorities of the people who live here.
🎯 Our goal: $5,000 by July 31, 2025
