My name is Tor Anderson. I have always been an outgoing person who loves the outdoors. For the past 33 years, I have been married to a wonderful woman who has stood by my side through every trial and tribulation. She is my real caregiver and the one who keeps encouraging me to seek treatment, so I can regain some of the active lifestyle we enjoyed together.

🏥 The Challenge

I spent 20 years as a US Navy SEAL, retiring in 2007. Since then, I have seen major improvements in how the military cares for troops, and I am now a civilian government employee, still dedicated to serving my country. But the physical toll of service has followed me long after retirement. During a night ship boarding exercise in rough seas, I injured my neck. I pushed through the pain for years, not wanting to be “un-deployable.” Over time, the damage got worse. Eventually, I couldn’t sleep and was in constant pain. After surgery, I finally found some relief, but I lost flexibility and strength. This restricted the activities I used to love.

Recently, I learned that the discs above and below my original injury are starting to degrade. This was discovered while I was being treated for nerve issues in my arms and chest. Now, pain and nerve flares are a daily reality.

💔 What’s at Stake

I have had to give up surfing, swimming, and mountain biking. I am limited in what I can do with weights and upper body exercises. Lifting heavy objects around the house, doing heavy yard work, or even wearing a backpack with any real weight is now out of reach. These aren’t just hobbies—they are parts of the life my wife and I built together.

🌟 What I Hope to Achieve

Through treatment, I am hoping for relief from pain and nerve issues, including numbness and painful flares. My goal is to increase my flexibility and regain the ability to participate in the activities I have had to avoid. I want to get back to enjoying the outdoors and sharing those moments with my wife.
