Carrie Benson's Story

When I first learned about the Performing Arts Initiative back in 2016, and its goal to develop a state-of-the-art performing arts center in the Columbia River Gorge, my immediate thought was, how do I get involved in this? It is truly my honor to be a PAI board member and to be working alongside this amazing team on this incredible vision.

I believe so strongly in the power of the performing arts to transform us individually and as a community. I’ve experienced it countless times myself, as a performer and as an audience member. What is more thrilling than to witness or participate in a performance experience that literally changes you in some way, especially in a beautiful, compelling space?

We have an opportunity in the Gorge to bring this dream to life for our community.

PAI has a vision for a space that will be open and welcoming and reflective of all members of our community, that will challenge and inspire us, that will make us see the world a bit differently, that will ultimately bring us closer together. We want everyone in our community, children and adults, to experience the transformative power of the performing arts in an incredible space, as performers and as audience. I cannot wait to experience the beautiful, compelling, inspiring, welcoming, and engaging space that we will create together.

We need your support now, to help us make this dream come to fruition.
