I was initially drawn to Page Ahead and the work Page Ahead does because reading has had an immeasurable impact on the trajectory of my life.  But what has cemented my commitment to this work is the empirical evidence, which aligns with my anecdotal experience — and the intuitive sense that most of us share — about the importance of reading.

For example, the study that Page Ahead’s Book Up Summer program is based on showed that giving elementary school kids books of their choice to read during the summer was as effective as sending those kids to summer school at a fraction of the cost. 

Page Ahead has been doing this work for three decades, by serving more than 900,000 children with more than three million books.
