GIAC Team's Story

We are so excited to be a part of this year’s Readathon event. GIAC is a multicultural center for youth and teens. We have been collaborating with the library for several years and the children have always enjoyed our reading time and science experiments that we have done together. In particular our Peewee, Kindergarten. First, and Second Grade Programs. The children love going to the library and it has always been one of their favorite parts of program. We are so thankful for everything TCPL has done for our youth participants to help engage them in reading and develop their creativity. We are participating this year to show how much our children love to read and read at, and with the Library. Often times our youth will talk about how much they look forward to our “library” days. A lot of times the children are then telling their parents about all the fun, and messy experiments that we do, and of course all the books we read!

Story

The READATHON is our annual read-out-loud challenge to raise funds for the collection at TCPL!

In this, our 11th year, reader-fundraisers will read from their favorite books and ask their friends, family, and colleagues to join them in supporting the public library. Your donation, in any amount, is very welcome.

Every dollar raised helps to buy books and other materials our community so desperately needs. Nearly a million items are used each year—a remarkably high level for a community of our size—and 100% of the funding comes from private support, like that raised by our READATHON participants.

Money raised by the Readathon goes toward purchasing books, films, e-books, audiobooks, and other materials that our patrons depend on to remain informed, entertained, and educated.
