2024 Year End Giving

As we reflect on the past year, I am humbled by the courage of the survivors we serve and the unwavering support of compassionate individuals like you. At the River City Domestic Violence Center, our mission is to provide safety, hope, and healing to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Yet, the challenges we face have grown significantly.

In the past two federal funding cycles, we have endured a devastating 73% reduction in our federal funding—a loss that threatens to undermine the essential services we provide across our seven-county service area. Despite this setback, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meeting the growing demand for our services.

This year, we came close to completing the expansion of our shelter, a critical project that will allow us to provide safety and refuge for more individuals and families than ever before. This expansion is a testament to what we can accomplish together, but the journey isn’t over.

Beyond the shelter, we face urgent funding needs to:

1. Raise Awareness

Victims in our service area need to know help is available. Too often, survivors suffer in silence, unaware of the resources and support systems that could change their lives. Awareness efforts ensure every victim knows they are not alone and that safety is within reach.

2. Provide Staff Training

Our team is the backbone of our services. Comprehensive training equips our staff to offer the best possible support to survivors, from crisis intervention to trauma-informed care. Investing in our staff means investing in the quality and efficacy of our programs.

3. Educate & Empower Our Community

Healthy relationships are the foundation of a thriving society. In 2024, we will expand our educational efforts, equipping key stakeholders—teachers, employers, community leaders, and more—with the tools to prevent abuse and support survivors. Together, we’ll build a stronger, more compassionate community.

Your generosity can bridge these gaps. By making a one-time, tax-deductible gift, or by committing to ongoing monthly support, we can ensure that no survivor feels forgotten and that every child who comes through our doors experiences safety and comfort. Your support isn’t just a donation; it’s a lifeline for those who need it most.

As we approach the end of the year, will you stand with us? Your tax-deductible gift, whether one-time or monthly, makes all the difference. Let’s make this season one of hope and renewal for those we serve.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with survivors. Together, we are building a safer, more compassionate community

With heartfelt gratitude,

Cassie Nagel
