This scholarship was created in honor of a 10 year old boy boy named Samona who passed away last summer and who never had the opportunity to go to school.

Throughout Moldova, boys and girls can choose to stop going to school by the 6th grade. More often than not, Roma are disproportionately affected by this and are allowed to drop out of school faster than others, or even forced out of school by this time because of bullying and marginalization.

In some cases their situation is even worse... some Roma children are not even allowed to go to school at all or never have the chance to register. But the Samona scholarship will put an end to this.

Your donation will help Roma children stay in school, feel safe and supported. It may purchase their next school lunch, buy their next backpack, or give them the tools necessary to learn like books, pens, and pencils.
