In 2020 during the global pandemic when celebrations for everything were at a distance, Coastal Kids Home Care and a community of supporters came together to transform our annual Touch-A-Truck event into the first ever Cruisin' for Coastal Kids parade. Led by police vehicles, our parades of classic cars, fire engines, and trucks all wearing masks that said, “Cruisin’ for Coastal Kids,” drove by the homes of some of the most vulnerable kids in Salinas and the Bay Area. It was an incredibly special day.

However, on typical years for almost a decade, Coastal Kids puts on Touch-A-Truck in Salinas -- a fall tradition and the signature fundraiser for Coastal Kids Home Care.  The event includes vehicles, food trucks, music and more. Children and adults can climb into a fire engine, explore a bulldozer and get behind the wheel a big rig. They can learn about CPR, build a toy truck, enjoy carnival games all while enjoying tasty treats. The event has grown from a small grass roots effort to an eagerly anticipated community event attracting over 1,000 kids and kids at heart. And some of our most special patients have enjoyed the event year after year.
