Congratulations and mahalo to this year’s honorees: Sen. Mazie Hirono, John Egan, and KNDI for your tremendous support of immigrants. You have made a world of difference for immigrants like me.
A few years ago when I tried to renew my driver’s license, I was initially denied because I did not have proof of legal presence in the United States (my U.S. passport had expired and my Certificate of Naturalization was lost). For two months I had a small glimpse of what it feels like to be undocumented. Even with a college degree and proficiency in English, the process of getting a copy of my certificate was daunting. I knew enough to be able to navigate the online process and find ways to solve issues that came up such as scheduling an appointment to meet with an USCIS officer. This is just one of the cases that TLC attorneys can be of assistance to immigrants.
Beyond providing legal services, TLC mobilized to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. TLC worked with community organizations to do outreach, education, and COVID relief. Thanks, TLC, for partnering with FilCom Center to secure CARES Act funding to establish the FilCom CARES Project, which continues to address the health disparities affecting the Filipino community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mahalo for "visiting" and hope you will consider donating whatever amount that's comfortable and meaningful for you ($10 to $100++)!
