The Brownsville Community Culinary Center (BCCC) was founded in 2016 by Claus Meyer to increase access to healthy food, nutritional education, and career and personal development opportunities. The BCCC offers a 30-Week Culinary Training Program, a Neighborhood Café, and the Diabetes Wellness Program. The culinary training program teaches food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen management, while the café serves healthy, locally-sourced food to the community. The Diabetes Wellness Program helps individuals with diabetes better manage their condition through healthy eating and lifestyle choices, including cooking classes and community support groups led by certified diabetes educators and registered dietitians. Overall, the BCCC is a vital resource for the Brownsville community promoting food education and access.
