We are the Twin Lakes Skatepark Project, and we're passionate about skateboarding and community. As full-time workers, business owners, husbands, fathers, friends, and skaters, our days are packed with responsibilities. But amidst the hustle and bustle of life, one thing remains constant – our love for skateboarding.

It all started when we were young, navigating the streets of Grayson County with our skateboards in tow. Those early days of skating were filled with exhilaration and camaraderie, but they also came with challenges. We were constantly chased away by the police, searching for spots where we could skate freely.

One of the fondest collective memories was the grand opening of the skatepark on Highway 54 in Leitchfield. It quickly became a second home for us, a place where friendships were forged and memories were made. However, as time passed, the park fell into disrepair, and eventually, it was decommissioned, leaving skateboarders like us with limited options.

Fueled by a desire to provide a better space for skaters in our community, we joined forces with like-minded individuals on the Grayson County Skatepark Board. Together, we envision a new, fully concrete skatepark that not only provides a safe environment for skating but also serves as a hub for families to bond and connect.

But our journey hasn't been without challenges. From navigating the complexities of liability issues to advocating for the importance of skateparks in our city and county's planning efforts, we've encountered hurdles every step of the way. Yet, we remain steadfast in our belief that skateparks are not just recreational facilities but vital community assets that promote physical activity, creativity, and inclusivity.
