💙 Our Story

Advocacy Family Network was born from urgency, frustration, and deep compassion.

After years of watching families fall through the cracks because organizations weren’t truly working together — and survivors were left struggling — I knew something had to change. People kept urging me to start a nonprofit that would connect services, offer real collaboration, and bring hope. At that very moment, Beth reached out, asking if there was anything she could be a part of. We met over lunch at Baumhower’s in Huntsville, Alabama — and that conversation changed everything.

From that meeting, Advocacy Family Network was formed. As we began to share our vision, we started pulling in others who felt the same — who were tired of hearing “we work together” while watching families, advocates, and our community struggle. Together, we built a team that’s passionate about creating real connection, real support, and real change.

Today, our 18-member Board of Directors shares one powerful goal: for our community’s nonprofits and advocates to operate like a well-oiled machine — unified, collaborative, and focused on what matters most — the people. Because when we work together, we heal together. And when we heal together, we thrive.
