In the past year, ASAP's membership has soared — from 5,000 asylum seekers last September to approaching 200,000 today!
Today, we're launching our first grassroots fundraising campaign since our explosive growth began. We're asking for your help so we can continue providing free services to asylum seekers from nearly every country on Earth, including Afghanistan and Haiti.
"One of the best sentences I
have read from ASAP is 'you are not alone.' And really, I have this
feeling now," said one ASAP member from Egypt.
Just $1 per member will cover the cost of communicating with 200,000 members for a year — via text, email, and WhatsApp. Every dollar you donate will be matched by other generous donors, for a total of $200,000!
We've been building this vibrant, active, and organized community of asylum seekers on tight budgets with narrow margins. Still, over the six years we've been around, ASAP has:
** Built the largest organized group of asylum seekers in the history of the United States
** Helped over 100,000 asylum seekers receive work permits and Social Security numbers
** Ensured members’ stories reach millions through news outlets such as the Washington Post and the New Yorker
** Crafted legal self-help resources that over 50,000 asylum seekers consult each month
** Taken collective legal action against the federal government —and won
** Coordinated a historic face-to-face meeting between separated families and the U.S.’s top immigration official
We'd be so grateful for your support. The future of the asylum system depends on people like you.
P.S. If you are an ASAP member, your membership is completely free. We do not require or expect any donations from our members!
P.P.S. If you are a donor whose employer matches donations, please report your GiveButter donation on your employer's matching gifts platform to multiply your impact! You can also give directly through your employer's platform if you prefer. Just search for Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project, EIN# 83-3011862.
