Black & Asian Solidarity Building Gatherings

Story

YING and the Chinese Immigrant Family Wellness Initiative are working together to organize Black and Asian Solidarity Gatherings (previously known as SOUL UP!) to promote collective racial healing and to build Black and Asian solidarity through the creation and fostering of intimate safe spaces to engage in difficult conversations about Black and Asian race relations and the future of racial justice.

After much deliberation with and listening to Black and Asian community leaders and members across Philadelphia neighborhoods, we have decided that a big event like the one we proposed does not align with our value to build authentic solidarity with the goal for long-term systemic change. As such, we have made the choice to take a step back, slow down, and listen to each other.

Your donations will go directly to support and sustain these gatherings---to pay for meals in Black- and/or Asian-owned restaurants and to compensate our organizers for their time and labor as well as creatives who produce arts that represent and promote our vision.
