I first became involved when my stepson become eligible to join Journeymen Triangle 3/4 years ago and initially I was just a supportive parent that occasionally helped out with events and things. I thoroughly appreciated the commitment, sincerity and willingness this group of men communicated in their desire to make a difference in these boys' lives. It impacted me in such a way that I was compelled to do more and as such I decided to invest more time and ultimately commit my time to becoming a mentor.

Having lived through a traumatic childhood without the support and benefit of positive male role models or anything close to resembling Journeymen -- it became clear to me that being able to do that for these boys was not just important to me, it was necessary.

There are of course challenges to being both a parent of a J-man and a mentor to the group but the reward of seeing of what this circle provides for these boys and the  potential opportunities for growth it offers them, far outweighs any challenges put forth.

I hope to continue this work, learn new skills along the way and remain part of the foundation for building a space where these boys can truly become men of integrity. Events like these fundraisers and vital to that growth so I am  hopeful that we can meet our goals.
