Rooted in the idea that cancer is not a sprint—it’s a marathon—Not-A-Sprint Month 2025 brings people together through endurance, community, and purpose. The month includes multiple high-impact events across Western North Carolina that educate, promote, and advocate for the quality of life of cancer patients and their caregivers.

Key events include:

Not-A-Sprint Weekend (Labor Day Weekend) – Forest City, NC
Live Music & Dinner Celebration – The evening before the race, we gather in the community to honor those who keep moving forward, no matter the obstacles and to jam until it's time to go to bed.

Not-A-Sprint Endurance Run – Labor Day
A 3-, 6-, or 12-hour endurance race, starting at 6am on the beautiful, flat Thermal Belt Rail Trail. Athletes, survivors, and supporters alike run or walk in solidarity with cancer patients who face physical and emotional challenges every day.

This Fourth-annual tournament honors resilience and raises critical funds to support Cancer Active’s year-round programming.
