Greyhounds in Motion is a 501c3 registered non-profit. We have been operating since 2019. Though based in Winter Park, Florida, we have volunteers throughout the USA, and our transport and adoption programs extend to 33 states. We work with Greyhounds and other Sighthounds here in our country, and have additionally helped dogs in need in 4 other countries.

Much of our work is focused in Spain, where working dogs, namely Galgos and Podencos, are excluded from animal welfare laws and face grim fates. We have transported over 400 Galgos and Podencos into Florida from a handful of fantastic rescue organizations. Help us transport and place 400 more!

In April of 2026, our team is heading to visit our partners at 112 Carlota Galgos in Malaga, Spain. While there, we will get to know 10 (or 15, or 20) lucky dogs to transport back to the USA for adoption. Additionally, we will work to create a safe, healing, and FUN place for the Galgos.

Many of these Galgos arrive after lives of neglect, trauma, and confinement. What they need most isn’t just rescue -- it’s lifesaving veterinary care, and a space to decompress, move freely, explore safely, and learn that the world can be kind.

This project will create:

A sensory garden filled with calming sights, textures, and scents to help dogs regulate and relax
An agility and movement area that allows Galgos to stretch their long legs, build confidence, and rediscover joy
A peaceful, shared space where people and dogs can connect, heal, and breathe together

But we can’t do this alone.

We need donations to make this vision a reality -- for materials, equipment, landscaping, and hands-on work that will directly impact the daily lives of these dogs. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps transform an empty space into a sanctuary of hope.

"Señor Galguero" was written by Charl del Rio of 112 Carlota Galgos. A galguero is someone who breeds and hunts with the Galgos, and other Spanish Sighthounds, including Greyhounds and Podencos.

February 1st is World Galgo Day, also known as Día del Galgo. It's a day of remembrance, resilience, and hope for Spanish Greyhound (Galgos) whose lives have too often been defined by exploitation, neglect, abuse, and abandonment. Traditionally used for hunting, tens of thousands of Galgos are discarded each year at the end of the season, many left injured, traumatized, or worse. Día del Galgo honors those who lost their lives and celebrates the survivors. Día del Galgo exposes the cruel truths of how these dogs are treated in Spain. People in Spain are educating the public and lobbying for change, while we work in the USA to raise awareness.

At Greyhounds in Motion, we believe awareness saves lives. From here in the United States, we have the power to be part of real change. By sharing the stories of Galgos, educating others about their plight, and supporting rescue efforts, we help shine a light on a cruelty that thrives in silence.
