Story

Share your creativity to help promote racial justice. "Buy" a 3x3 foot square on the sidewalk in West Acton Village to create chalk art  around the themes of diversity, inclusion, equity, racial justice and neighborly love.  Change starts with each of us.  Acton-Boxborough United Way is committed to mobilizing our community around racial equity as we continue to fight for the education, health and financial stability of EVERY person in Acton and Boxborough.

We are so glad that the West Acton Village Merchant Association (WAVMA) wholeheartedly embraced the event and joined as a partner. Thank you for donating the Chalk!  Visit our local businesses and check out the"History Matters" window displays that tell the story of inequity through facts that you might not have heard before.

We will be using the event to further our community' s conversation around racial justice. We will document the communal chalk art project and host a racial justice TV program following the event to further the conversation.

A-B United Way reserves the right to remove any drawings deemed offensive, and will not permit electoral campaign content.  We want to rally our community in solidarity and love for all our neighbors.

We ask you to register, so we can safely designate squares and ensure social distancing.   Once you register, you receive an email with additional information, including a site map of  West Acton, store and square locations and times where you can pick up your Chalk the Walk bag.  Please help us to make this a safe event.  Chalk cannot be shared among groups, but feel free to use any leftover chalk in front of your home.  Your family, bubble or company, can buy extra squares to safely invite friends or colleagues.

A suggested donation is $25.  Donations are welcome.  All funds go the A-B United Way Community Care Fund, our general fund,  so we can continue to mobilize the caring power of community for lasting change!

Thank you for your support!
