Hello, my name is Jovan Sanson, and I am a sophomore studying Marketing and Profesional Sales at The University of Toledo. I was originally born in Ashtabula, Ohio, then raised in Geneva, Ohio, before moving to Toledo, Ohio in the eighth grade. I have an older brother named Roger, an older sister named Tania, and two loving parents that support me in all of my endeavors. I keep my family very close to me in my accolades and downfalls, because they are always there to support me. I chose to attend The University of Toledo, because I truly wanted to make a difference in my community. This need to give back to the Toledo community derived from the mentors and coaches I had in the Toledo area that shaped me into the man I am today. Since deciding to attend The University of Toledo, I have become heavily involved in organizations, while always seeking to make differences where I can. Whether it be building relations in the community through The Bridge, helping to develop the business professionals of tomorrow through Pi Sigma Epsilon, or starting fundraisers through Givebutter, I am always striving to help spread the butter.

Fun fact?

Both of my parents were born and raised in two different countries outside of the United States, but they met and raised my family in Ohio.

Who in you life most inspires you and why?

My father has always inspired me the most in my life. He has always worked very hard to provide my family with everything we have, and I owe him so much for that. He is often the individual I think of when times get hard, and is always there for me!

Best advice you have ever received?

There is only 24 hours in a day, so don't waste them.

Your greatest achievement to date?

My greatest achievement up to this point would be finishing in the top five of a national sales competition this past semester. This was huge honor for me being a sales major, and striving to such a high level as a sophomore!

Founded on the values of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love, Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded on November 1, 1901 at Richmond College, now the University of Richmond, in Richmond, Virginia. Since then, SigEp has grown to become one of the largest fraternities in the country. Around 15,000 SigEp undergraduates are on more than 220 college campuses each year. They are among the more than 325,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since 1901.  I am a member of the Ohio Iota chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon, at The University of Toledo. The Ohio Iota chapter was founded on September 30th, 1950. Since then, the Ohio Iota chapter has achieved many accolades and risen to one of the most elite chapters in the nation. We have achieved this by excelling on a national level, and putting our values first.  The Ohio Iota chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has always been a chapter full of service minded individuals. With members who have founded service events such as; Laps for Diabetes, Strike Out Cancer, SigEp Stromboli, UT Olympics, and many more, it is easy to see how Ohio Iota spreads the butter in various ways!
