Story

Kitchen Rodeo Presents: Cooking for Equity – Asian Chefs for Black Lives

This is a 10 part cooking series with some of the nation’s leading Asian Chefs. All events in this series - in solidarity with Black Lives Matter - will support community organizations and Fair Fight, the anti-voter suppression organization founded by Stacey Abrams, playing a critical role in ensuring fair elections at all levels.

50% of proceeds from this event will go to The Okra Project, a collective addressing the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People. The remaining 50% of proceeds from this event will go towards Fair Fight.

🔥MEET THE CHEF
Chef Hannah Wong is a certified force of nature: Gramercy Tavern, dB Bistro Moderne and Battersby alum, Food Network Chopped champion, Fulbright scholar and chef at two NYC restaurants - Van Da and HAEMA, slated to open later this year. Hannah is also the Executive Chef of newly formed 1:1 Foods, a Brooklyn-based social enterprise that seeks to tackle food insecurity in immigrant communities by partnering with local restaurants to create meal kits. For every meal kit purchased, 1:1 provides a meal through community-based organizations to a Brooklyn family.

Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, Hannah has been staying busy. She just wrapped a successful pop-up series out of Van Da, she's fed NYC protestors alongside Queer Soup Night and Meme's Diner and is hard at work recipe testing for HAEMA.
