Howard Grobstein created Cory Fights Back to honor the memory of his fiancée, Cory Zera. Her courageous battle with ovarian cancer inspired the desire to support others going through this incredibly challenging journey.

Cory faced her diagnosis with fierce determination and a radiant spirit, driven by deep love for her daughter, Sophia, and for Howard. Her unwavering resilience — her “Fighting Irish” spirit — inspired the name Cory Fights Back. Cory brought warmth and care into every part of her life. Whether crocheting blankets and sweaters or nurturing relationships, she wove kindness and compassion into everything she did, and Cory Fights Back was created to reflect that dream and honor her vibrant love of life.

Our mission is to raise funds for ovarian cancer education, awareness, and research. We aim to empower women and families with knowledge, advocate for better outcomes, and support innovation in early detection and treatment — all with compassion, collaboration, and commitment.

Proceeds from this event will directly support the mission of Cory Fights Back by contributing to nationally recognized programs provided by the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC). These initiatives include awareness and education, quality of life support & resources, community outreach & events, and life-saving research of the deadliest of all gynecologic cancers. By channeling event proceeds toward these efforts, NOCC acts as a bridge between community-driven fundraising and national impact, ensuring that every dollar raised contributes meaningfully to sustainable change.
