For nearly two decades, Marine Education Initiative has been planting seeds of change in South Florida. What began as a small idea — to teach kids how the health of our oceans connects to the food on our plates — has blossomed into a movement that is nourishing families, inspiring young people, and building a more resilient community.

Every day at our Aquaponics Center, children discover the magic of growing their own food. They learn that the choices we make about what we eat ripple outward to our waterways, our health, and our future. Families who might otherwise go without are receiving baskets of fresh, healthy produce, lovingly grown just down the road. And young people who once never imagined themselves in science or agriculture are finding pathways into meaningful careers.

But right now, we’ve outgrown our home. Our classrooms are too small to welcome all the students who want to learn. Our gardens have reached their limit, even as more families come to us for help. And the cost of rent is eating away at resources that should be going back into the community.

That’s why we’re taking a bold step forward — moving to a new site in West Boca Raton where we can finally breathe, expand, and dream bigger. On this land, we’ll build greenhouses, teaching spaces, and fields where thousands more children can learn, grow, and discover their power to change the world. We’ll donate more fresh food to families who need it most. And we’ll create a place that belongs to the entire community — a place of learning, sharing, and hope.

This is more than a building project. It’s a promise. A promise that no child will be turned away from learning, that no family will go without fresh, nourishing food, and that together, we can create a healthier future for all.
