The Family Resource Center began in 1984 when a group of Gordon County citizens met to discuss their concerns about the maltreatment of children in the community. In 1986 the agency became a chartered council of the Prevent Child Abuse Georgia. Since then the agency has grown and continues to grow by providing services such as Supervised Visitation, Parents as Teacher, First Steps, Parenting with a Purpose parenting classes, and Family Ties Relative Caregiver Support Group. 

The Family Resource Center's mission is the prevention of child abuse in all its forms: physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect in Gordon County, Georgia. All proceeds raised go to support the programs of the Family Resource Center.
