To all,

Two years ago I attended a Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation event to support friends and family who put on the event. Before attending, I had never heard about Jack and Jill, but as soon as I learned more about the cause, I was extremely impacted by it and the message of the organization:

“Treating the families, not the cancer.”

When a person is diagnosed with late stage cancer, an entire family has their world turned upside down. The fight begins and the prognosis’ are not typically optimistic. Family members and children endure and fight, give support, love encouragement for perseverance. Because this fight is very taxing on the family, Jack and Jill sees this precious time as an opportunity to create new happy, hopeful and genuine memories by way of dates, vacation, parks and activities with children.

This is the enduring fight that the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation aims to uphold. One that helps to shed light on the hope in such a dark time. This is something that I think can be overlooked or completely dismissed when the sky is falling in someone’s world. The foundation accepts donations and provides ‘WOW’ vacations and experiences to member families. The testimonials are incredible, demonstrating that joy be brought back to all members of the family.

Life does not end at diagnosis. By fighting in this tournament I am striving to raise a donation goal of $6,000 to the Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation. My contributions are intended to help these families smile, heal and instill hope.

My Cause:

My cause will be championing the fight to help support families associated with The Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation. A note from Jack and Jill Foundation:

JAJF has become exceptionally—even profoundly important because of the lives we are ALL truly impacting across the United States. When a parent is diagnosed with late-stage cancer, a family’s world is immediately turned upside down. Our supporters appreciate these children who are facing the imminent loss of their Moms and or Dads deserve a timeout from cancer to create cherished, lasting (indispensable) memories as a family… while they can.

For JAJF to be “prescribed” by Oncologists across the United States as part of the treatment process and protocol is extraordinary. JAJF has now treated families from 44 states. Sadly, it is just too easy for us to find young Moms and Dads in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s dying from cancer (despite the advances in research) leaving behind their children. We gain our families strictly from Oncologist referrals.

About Me:

Currently I live in Atlanta with my wife Katherine and our two dogs. Over the past years, we have further realized the blessings we have in our lives, and in reflection have striven to become more involved with charities that touch our hearts and raise awareness.

I am looking forward to fighting for my cause on February 17^th and hope that my mission influences you enough to donate. If you are not familiar with Brawl for a Cause, there will be 30 matched Brawlers, each fighting for a charity that they believe in.
