About Russell and Norha Wells

Russell and Norha Wells are the passionate and dedicated leaders behind our mission at Promise Home.

Russell's Story

Russell is an Air Force veteran with over 23 years of service, followed by three years with Survice Engineering. Growing up in the Seattle, Washington area, Russell has always been driven by a strong sense of duty and a desire to serve others.

Norha's Journey

Born and raised in Haiti, Norha came to the United States as a teenager. She pursued her education at the University of Miami, built a successful business, and established her career in the Miami metro area. Her journey has instilled in her a deep compassion for others and a strong commitment to uplifting those in need.

Their Path Together

Russell and Norha met, married, and raised their family in Northwest Florida, making Crestview their home. In 2012, during a mission trip to an orphanage in the mountains of Jamaica, they felt a profound calling from God to dedicate their lives to serving orphaned children and impoverished single mothers. This calling was confirmed through their prayers and God's guidance, particularly through an experience they fondly refer to as The Banana Story, which directly linked their mission to Ecuador and Honduras.

Their Missionary Work

In 2016, they began their missionary life in Costa Rica, and in 2017, they moved to Machala, Ecuador, where they worked with children's ministries in three locations. They helped grow the children's ministry in Pasaje from three children to nearly 70, focusing on education, teaching English, and spreading hope through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 2018, they moved to Quito, Ecuador's capital, where they served the local community through various ministries, including Prostitute Ministry, Urban Outreach, Medical Team, and Construction Ministry. Their work impacted many lives, bringing hope and support to those in need.

Overcoming Personal Challenges

In 2020, Norha was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast Cancer. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, she underwent a year of aggressive treatment and surgeries. Through prayers and the support of the medical team, Norha emerged cancer-free, a testament to their faith and resilience.

Continuing the Mission

In 2023, the Wells served in La Ceiba, Honduras, focusing on children's ministries and community outreach. They worked with the Garifuna women and partnered with local pastors to provide support and build relationships within the community.

Founding Going Bananas International Inc.

In 2024, the Wells founded Going Bananas International Inc., dedicated to serving, uplifting, and empowering vulnerable communities, particularly orphaned children and single mothers. Their mission is rooted in compassion and faith, providing comprehensive support including education, nourishment, shelter, and, most importantly, hope and love.

Directors of Women's and Children's Ministries at Promise Home

Now, as Directors of Women's and Children's Ministries at Promise Home, Russell and Norha are committed to growing the kingdom by ministering to the children of Honduras. Promise Home aims to be a place of safety and growth for orphaned children, grounded in God's word and the love of Jesus Christ.
