Inspire 2025: Help Mel—and Others—Find Home

At Inspire 2025, we're raising critical funds to help people like Jessica access permanent supportive housing. We’re proud to partner with Alliance Housing and Property Solutions and Services to open Kyle Garden Square this fall in downtown Minneapolis. This new development will provide 59 units of supportive housing for individuals experiencing homelessness who are also living with mental illness.

Mel's Story

“I was sent to a psychiatric hospital at an early age,” Mel shares. “I bounced between foster care, detention centers, and mental health programs for more than a decade.” Struggling with impulse control and anger, she eventually ended up in jail for assaulting an officer. After her release, Mel was homeless and her mental health deteriorated.

Then she found Touchstone.

Through Touchstone services, Mel moved into her first apartment. “I’m learning to manage stress, be patient, and control my emotions. It’s not always easy,” she says, “but I’ve lived in my apartment for many years—and I’m proud of that.”
