Trevor first went Rwanda in 2015 where he lived and worked for 6 months as a special projects coordinator for a Women's Entrepreneurship Program in the capital city of Kigali. In 2016, he met the Minnesota-based Starkey Hearing Foundation in Rwanda and joined that organization which brought him to Minnesota where he eventually met Tyler (on a lake in true Minnesota fashion!). He was able to return to Rwanda several times with SHF to continue to serve the people of Rwanda.

Tyler is the nephew of Kathy Lesnar, the Abana Foundation Executive Director, and heard many great stories of Rwanda through the Lesnar Family and supported the Abana Foundation's All Day Fore Africa event every year.

On the day that Tyler & Trevor met, they instantly connected on their shared interest in Rwanda and decided to get together to talk more about the Land of a Thousand Hills. They've been dating ever since.

After only a few months of dating, Tyler & Trevor decided to travel together with Kathy to Rwanda in November 2017 and had an amazing time visiting Kibeho and working the kids at the Children's Academy. They could not get enough of the amazing & resilient Rwandan people and their beautiful culture.

In 2018, Kathy invited Trevor to join the board of directors for the Abana Foundation which Trevor graciously accepted.
