The Miami-Dade Urban Debate League (MDUDL) is the local chapter of the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL). MDUDL is aimed at building a local community of active individuals committed to teaching urban youth to think, communicate, collaborate and love learning through the academic activity of policy debate.

As the national leader of the urban debate movement, the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL) works with its local chapters to provide debate programming to urban middle and high school students. NAUDL and these chapters prepare students from low income families and underrepresented populations to succeed in high school, college, and 21st Century careers by teaching them academic debate. In 2016, 9,479 students in 22 cities participated in urban debate programs. 72% of urban debaters are from low-income families and 86% are students of color. Research has demonstrated that, because they debate, 90% of these students graduate from high school on time and 85% enroll in college, where they are 80% more likely than non-debaters to earn a degree within 6 years. Research also indicates that every semester that a student debates, his/her grades improve.
