At Mississippi Spay and Neuter (MS-SPAN), we know that the only way to end pet overpopulation is through prevention. Spay and neuter is a simple and safe way to stop unplanned litters of puppies and kittens.

Mississippi is the poorest state in the nation and countless families struggle just to meet their basic human needs. Unfortunately, many families do not have the resources to have their cats and dogs sterilized, even though they love them dearly. This often leads to unplanned litters of puppies and kittens and the heart-wrenching choice to surrender them to a shelter.

We have always provided spay and neuter surgeries to any pet owner who walks through our doors, regardless of their ability to pay.

Since opening in 2008, our clinic has spayed and neutered over 59,000 dogs and cats. The increase in the number of sterilized dogs and cats in our area has resulted in a dramatic reduction in the number of homeless animals entering Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL), the largest shelter in our state. Since we first arrived on the scene, MARL has experienced a 40% decrease in their annual animal intake - down to less than 10,000 from 17,000! But we do not want it to stop there.
