Napa United was established in 1978 as Napa Youth Soccer League (NYSL) to offer recreational soccer to children in Napa County. In 2010, under the guidance of Arik Housley, NYSL merged with Napa Valley Soccer Club to provide recreational and travel club soccer and became known as Napa United (NU).

While its early history has been from humble beginnings, just as youth soccer has grown exponentially in the US, so has the need for quality leadership and new program offerings to ensure the highest level play for Napa United athletes. These initial programs remained consistent until 2018, but NU has transformed into the club it is today with the hiring of Head of Soccer Operations, Gavin Taylor, and the subsequent formation of an elite academy program.

NU now serves 2,000 players of all skill levels to participate in the beautiful and globally uniting game of soccer. NU’s expansive offerings allow reach to the entire community ensuring an equitable opportunity no matter the skill level or socio-economic status. The player pyramid spans from after school enrichment programs to top tier MLS Next training. Notably, NU is one of only 124 MLS Next Elite clubs nationwide.
