About Archives in Love and War

In 1975, more than 3,300 Vietnamese children were airlifted to the United States in the final days of the war. The records of their lives including flight manifests, medical files, personal adoption documents remaining in 33 boxes held by the Boulder adoption agency that coordinated their placement.

In 2024, those boxes were entrusted to Devaki Murch, an Operation Babylift adoptee and survivor of the April 4th C-5A crash with one directive: connect as many adoptees as you can.

Archives in Love and War returns those records to the people they belong to. Through trauma-informed archival practice, personal file deliveries, oral history interviews, and community gatherings, we treat return as the highest form of preservation.

Many adoptees have never seen their own files. We are here while the voices that hold this history are still here to share them.
