Story

Twenty-nine years ago, the PVAMU Nurses Alumni Prayer Ministry organized this annual event founded upon a vision given to Phebia S. Warren-Person, then President, fondly known as “Aunt” Phebia. Although "Aunt Phebia" has since passed away, members of the Prairie View Nurses Alumni Chapter continue the dream of its dedicated visionary founder, and in 2009, named the Prayer Breakfast in honor of Phebia S. Warren-Person.

This year we will have a virtual prayer summit.

Additionally, 2020 is a seminal year, as the World Health Organization and the American Nurses Association has decreed 2020 as The Year of the Nurse and Nurse Midwives. The shortage of nurses continues to present a major challenge for the healthcare and well-being of our nation.

Proceeds from the Prayer Summit contribute to scholarships and development of students attending PVAMU College of Nursing, which has produced some of the best nurses during its one-hundred-year legacy. Prairie View Nurses Alumni Chapter further supports the mission of the PV College of Nursing and PVAMU (the university) at large by providing:

• Mentoring program

• Alumni/Student/Faculty Engagement events

• Community Outreach

• Support for PV College of Nursing recruitment and retention efforts

We extend an invitation for you to join us in support of this virtual event.
