Prism Connection is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to increasing access to mental health care for the LGBTQ+ community and other underserved communities in Arizona. Launched in 2024, our organization was founded in response to the pressing need for mental health services that are inclusive, compassionate, and accessible to all.

About Our Founder

Tres Adames, President and Founder of Prism Connection, is an interfaith pastoral counselor, mental health educator, member of the LGBTQ+ community, and survivor of conversion therapy. Growing up in a conservative evangelical environment, Tres experienced immense pressure to change who he was.

After enduring ten years of conversion therapy, he faced years of depression and self-rejection. It wasn’t until he sought out affirming therapy that he found the healing and self-acceptance he had been searching for. Tres' experiences with conversion therapy have been covered by the Arizona Mirror and Truth Wins Out.

In 2019, Tres was fired from a local counseling agency because of his sexual orientation. This pivotal experience solidified his commitment to advocating for ethical and affirming mental health care, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. His story was even covered by 3 TV and CBS 5 in an Emmy award-winning story by Brandon Lee, which highlighted the ongoing need for safe, inclusive support for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Our Purpose

Prism Connection was founded with the belief that everyone deserves access to mental health care that affirms their identity and nurtures their well-being. Our mission is to provide counseling scholarships to LGBTQ+ individuals and underserved communities, along with mental health resources and education.
