SOKY Alliance provides social programming with groups like BG Teen and Gen Q and community events like Pride Picnic. As we continue to grow, we plan to offer support and educational opportunities and be equipped to connect the community with resources.

As a mom of two teens, I noticed a lack of centralized resources for LGBTQ youth in Bowling Green as I set out to find space for them to just connect with others without having to commit to a specific skill or activity.

I’m the administrator at First Christian Church, which was supportive of my vision to establish a social group for teens and has provided the perfect space for the group to exist. BG Teen isn’t a faith-based organization, but it exists with enthusiastic support from FCC.

In 2023, we expanded programming with a young adult group called Gen Q and community events and collaborations like Pride Picnic and Pride Worship. With these expansions, the founding leadership committee of SOKY Alliance was formed in 2024 as the umbrella organization for all the current and future offerings.

It’s our goal to maintain and expand the programming, educational opportunities and connection to resources for the LGBTQ community.
