The Steven Iwinski Memorial Fund was created to carry forward the passion, knowledge, and mentorship that Steve brought to the erosion, sediment control, and stormwater management industries. Steve was a pioneering force in the field, introducing flocculants as a standard tool to reduce sediment runoff and protect clean water. He was a scientist, a teacher, a collaborator, and a relentless advocate for better environmental practices.

Steve believed deeply in the power of science and technology to solve complex environmental problems. Throughout his career, he championed innovative, evidence-based solutions and shared his knowledge freely with professionals, students, and regulators alike.

Launched on the 10th anniversary of Steve’s passing, the grant provides full funding each year for an early career professional to attend a leading industry conference. This includes travel and registration costs, ensuring that the recipients can grow professionally, build their network, and return home with new tools to tackle real-world environmental challenges.

The grant is open to young professionals working or studying in related fields, especially those with a demonstrated commitment to soil and water protection. In doing so, we aim not only to keep Steve’s spirit alive but also to invest in the future of an industry he helped shape.
