The StoreHouse isn’t just a food bank—we are a movement of love, faith, and service. Founded in 2022 by The Mel Johnson, a stroke and sexual trauma survivor, The StoreHouse was created from a divine calling to serve. Today, we are proud to be the nation’s first Black-run food bank, distributing over 1.5 million pounds of food and reaching more than 40,000 families across Maryland and South Carolina.

We believe fresh, healthy food is a basic right—not a luxury. That’s why we do more than hand out boxes. We deliver hope, dignity, and nutrition—directly to doorsteps, through mobile markets, pop-up pantries, and loving partnerships. Every dollar you give helps us continue feeding families, supporting seniors, and showing up for our neighbors with radical love.
