I’m Lara, the founder of Survivor Source. After a decade of exploitation, I got myself out — but I quickly realized that “getting out” wasn’t enough. Survivors in America face a landscape full of gaps: lack of services, lack of connection, and a deep lack of respect.

I created Survivor Source because I wanted something different: a place for survivors, by survivors. A space where we’re not just seen as victims or checkboxes, but as people — leaders, professionals, and community members with real voices.

Survivor Source is a nonprofit founded and run by survivors of human trafficking. We know firsthand what it means to survive — and we know that freedom is only the first step.

Our mission is to break isolation, connect survivors with each other and with real resources, and demand respect for survivors at every level of society.

Through projects like the Survivor Career Community — which brings together over 60 survivors across the country — and specialized trainings for the public, service providers, and law enforcement, we work to improve survivor leadership and change how communities respond to trafficking.
